Called Out

On Elly’s blog she calls out blogs by foreigners in China and the obligatory, Omigod, the bus/taxi/car driver was so crazy entry. She is right, of course. I have mine. Elly lives in Beijing and the best part of her making the callout is that she is a bright, articulate Chinese woman, (beautiful, too), blogging in her second language. If I ever finish my post about my trip to Tibet you’ll be able to read about how I met Elly. If.

The culture shock of coming to China really does cause some starry-eyed blog entries that look pedantic when you look at the community of bloggers as a whole, something that most bloggers aren’t aware enough to do at first. Some of the entertainment of reading China blogs is reading about the shock of being in a place so foreign than your home. Only after the initial shock can you fall into a groove of relaying your life in China. Some great examples are taschenrechner.us, sinosplice and dork boy says what. Might be worth a look, certainly if you are reading this from China.

Cheers.
